I LAY DOWN MY LIFE FOR YOU
september's album of the month is
I LAY DOWN MY LIFE FOR YOU by
JPEGMAFIA. fuck what fantano said. this is by far some of peggy's best work, and a major highlight in his career. this feels like how i felt listening to him for the first time again. incredible mixing and openness in these tracks, my favorite being 'either on or off the drugs' (which has some incredibly creative samples.) some great flows and features from vince staples and denzel curry once more, and every choice brings the album to life. you should check it out if you care about hip-hop or music as a whole.

monthly marxism
for september i'll reccomend reading
reform or revolution, by
rosa luxemburg (1900). i think this is especially meaningful to revisit due to the whole wave of 'vote blue no matter who' folks in usamerica. while luxemburg is left communist, i can still recognize good ideas put forth here. there's a lot of really solid critiques and luxemburg once again proves to be an amazing writer.
here's an accompanying reading guide i found helpful, too, that offered some interesting questions. reform is always going to be a nuanced subject, but it's important we don't get sidetracked fighting smaller battles.
